New Blues Club Opens in Old Jefferson Big Al’s Deckbar Serves up Seafood and Blues

host posted on April 22, 2011 14:00 Article Rating

Blues aficionados already know that Big Al’s Saloon and Blues in Harvey, LA has become “the place” to hear blues on the West Bank. Now, proprietor “Big Al” Kinler has opened Big Al’s Deckbar (1715 Jefferson Hwy.) and is making East Bank patrons smile with his delicious seafood and soul-soothing blues.

Every Wednesday night, Big Al’s Deckbar is the spot for the popular weekly Blues Jam, which is a great excuse for Blues fiends to get together and share their love of music. If you drop in, you’ll undoubtedly be rubbing shoulders with some of the best Blues artists in the area who converge here to swap licks, have a few beers and grab a bite to eat. In season, Big Al has boiled crawfish on Wednesdays. Lately, the Wednesday night jam band has been either John Lisi and Jason Ricci, or Oscar and The Blues Cats. Delighted listeners are treated to first-rate music, all for no cover charge.

Big Al’s Deckbar also has Blues bands every Saturday night, including such premier local Blues acts as Lil’ Red and Big Bad and Jumpin’ Johnny Sansone. You owe it to yourself to stop in and check out all the fun!
